we bought a farm

I'm not exactly sure how long the Farmhouse Tab will take up residency on the website.  My initial thinking was to have a single place I could go to to share photos, ideas, the good, bad and the ulgy etc. of our fixer upper  We'll see.....

After years of dreaming about it, an equal amount of time searching for one, we finally did it, we bought a farm.  She's no longer a working farm, but she'll forever be called the "farmhouse" in our book.  While the house needs a lot of love (plenty more on that later), it was the land and location we fell in love with.  We're 5 minutes from town, the kids can still go to their same schools, and there are photo ops in abundance out here.  It wasn't an easy process, but we did it.  And now we have our very own Fixer Upper, thank God I have my very own Chip Gaines!  Below are a few iPhone and film shots of some of my favorite spots out here.  I won't lie, she ain't pretty when you pull up, but she'll get there.  As of today, we're about 85% finished with the upstairs, it's been a great winter project.  This Spring we'll tear into the exterior with a new roof, siding and windows and hopefully a wrap around porch to enjoy those summer nights from. Btw, I use the term "we" lightly.  Chad has definitely been the "we" on all the major stuff I know nothing about or don't have the muscle to do.  I can paint and make things look pretty, I'm learning though.  The barn on the top left (we affectionately call Barn Unhappy), will more than likely come down one day unless we win the lottery or somehow can afford to restore it to it's glory days.  And if we can't, her wood will grace the walls of this house in some form.  Baby steps.
